Webinar: Bioenergy and cogeneration in the current energy crisis

6 July – 11:00-12:15 CET – Registration

The current energy crisis represents a major challenge for Europe but also an opportunity to increase necessary efforts to accelerate the green transition and secure its energy autonomy.

To face this unprecedented challenge, the European Commission has recently published its plan to accelerate the energy transition and lower EU’s energy dependency. This plan known as the REPowerEU package is made up of strategies, legal documents and guidelines and focuses on saving energy and replacing fossil fuels with clean energy on the one hand, while, on the other hand, finding replacement sources of fossil fuels and building new fossil-fuel infrastructure.

Effective implementation of bioenergy and cogeneration solutions can represent a significant role in reaching European energy objectives. However, the full potential of these solutions remains unexploited and the current REPowerEU plan is very vague concerning their use.

This webinar will discuss the importance that bioenergy and cogeneration represent for making European energy cleaner, more efficient and less dependent. It will also provide insights into innovative biomass CHP solutions developed within two EU-funded projects – SmartCHP and Blaze, which co-manage the BIOCOGEN 2030 stakeholder forum on small-medium scale Biomass CHP systems.
