EU establishes resource efficiency advisory group

Brussels, 5 June As laid out in last year’s resource efficiency roadmap, a high level stakeholder group has been established, holding its first meeting on Tuesday 5th June.

The group’s membership includes MEPs, commissioners, environment ministers from four member states, business leaders, academics and representatives from environmental and consumer groups. Meetings are chaired by the former prime minister of Ireland, John Bruton.

The stakeholders are expected to make recommendations on resource efficiency within a year, with further conclusions expected from the group in 2014.

Further information can be found in the Commission’s press release and at the new Online Resource Efficiency Platform.
