Challenge: By 2030, all plastic packaging placed on the market in the EU should either be reusable or able to be recycled cost-effectively. This means that globally more than half of all packaging must meet these requirements. Europe is dependent on fossil-based raw materials, however these resources are scarce in the EU.
Solution: INN-PRESSME will develop and implement a sustainable Open Innovation Test Bed to support European companies to scale up their biomaterials and processes. INN-PRESSME is supporting European SMEs and companies to develop bio-based solutions in the packaging, energy, transport, and consumer goods sectors. Focusing on nano-cellulose, bioplastics, and natural fibres, INN-PRESSME Open Innovation Test Bed is offering a wide range of services for feedstock conversion, materials development and upgrading.
Duration: January 2021 – January 2025
