EU overtakes the USA in innovation performance

Brussels – The European Commission has launched its updated European Innovation Scoreboard, highlighting that the EU’s overall innovation performance is continuing to improve, and this year overtook the USA.

Innovation performance has improved in 24 of the EU Member States, with Sweden remaining at the head of the elite ‘Innovation leaders’ – a group that was reduced by one this year, as the UK was knocked down a category.

The EC has also released its corresponding Regional Innovation Scoreboard, assessing the performance of all EU NUTS2 regions.
