Community Innovation Survey results released

Luxembourg, 11 January – Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, have released the results of their Seventh Community Innovation Survey, finding that 53% of European enterprises performed innovation activities between 2008 and 2010, with Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium having the highest proportions of innovative enterprises.

Luxembourg, 11 January  – Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office, have released the results of their Seventh Community Innovation Survey, finding that 53% of European enterprises performed innovation activities between 2008 and 2010, with Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium having the highest proportions of innovative enterprises.

The survey, which only questioned companies with more than ten employees, found that 79% of German, 68% of Luxembourgish and 61% of Belgian enterprises had performed innovation activities. The worst performing states – Bulgaria, Poland and Latvia – each had results of 30% or less.

In the EU27, 27% of companies co-operated with other companies, research institutes or universities, with Cyprus emerging as the most co-operative. Eleven percent of companies reported co-operation with a partner in another member state, EFTA or candidate country, 3% with the USA and 2% with China or India.
