Challenge: Around 28% of the EU’s total surface area is covered by grassland and green shrubs. Currently, this resource is mostly left unused.

Solution: GO-GRASS will develop cost-effective and sustainable circular business models exploiting the underused potential of grass resources, considering social, economic and environmental circumstances in rural areas across Europe. To achieve this objective, GO-GRASS partners will test a wide range of solutions in four promising regional demonstration sites located in The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Denmark.

Duration: October 2019 – September 2023

We are creating an online decision support tool to help rural stakeholders building their own circular business model, and are responsible for the project website, and policy uptake activities. GO-GRASS is coordinated by our member ATB, who is also following the German demonstration site, while RISE is coordinating the activities of the Swedish demonstration site. Zabala act as GO-GRASS project office, and supports exploitation activities, in cooperation with Gate2Growth. IFAU is working on the development of new value chains based on the solutions tested in GO-GRASS. Prospex Institute design and implement tailor-made participatory processes, while ESCI leads the GO-GRASS communication and dissemination activities.
